The task of carrying the baby falls on momma, there just isn’t a way around it. And what a daunting task it is.

As the momma, you do everything you can to take care of your baby.

You cut out anything dangerous such as drinking or smoking.

You make an effort to eat healthier despite those intense cravings.

And all of the sudden everything is a fall risk resulting in you slowing down, using handrails, and simply feeling the need to protect this little being.

It all falls on you.

You are the one who gets to feel those first flutters.

You are the one who experiences the baby moving while going about your day.

You are the one who gets the honor of bringing your little one into the world.

Your Partner

At times it can seem difficult for your partner to feel included or like they play a role during your pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a tricky time for partners. They do their best to be supportive and understand, but they don’t get to experience first-hand what you are going through.

It is important to find ways to include your partner in the pregnancy.

What to Expect App

During my first pregnancy, my husband found a great way to participate in the pregnancy every single week. Each week as I went from 10 weeks to 11 weeks to 12 weeks my husband read my pregnancy update.

We downloaded the “What to Expect” app then each week he would snag my phone from me and read aloud.  Before we knew it this had become our tradition.

He would read to us what was going on with our baby that week. We learned when they were the size of a lime and when they could hear our voices. We followed our baby’s development the whole way.

He also read about what was going on with my body as it was growing with our baby. About cramps and back pains.

We both learned you can use the restroom a lot not just at the end of pregnancy but in the beginning as well. Who knew?!

Every week as you progress during pregnancy have your partner read aloud the weekly progress. This helps them understand what is happening in your body and be a part of the journey.

The app is an easy read. The passages are brief but packed full of information.

Include your Partner in pregnancy

Connect as a Couple

This time together allows you to discuss other things to come, such as your birth plan and different aspects of how you plan to raise your child.

This was a huge way we stayed connected as a couple during pregnancy. This was how my husband felt a part of the pregnancy journey.

If this is your first baby neither of you know what is going on and this is a way to strengthen your bond as a couple before the madness begins with bringing this little one home.

We used the free version of the app and that was plenty of information for us.

It is simple to use.

I couldn’t recommend it more.

Conclusion

This is a simple way for your partner to feel included in your pregnancy. It is a chance for you to get educated at the same time and on the same information. This will keep you in tune and growing together during your pregnancy.

I strongly recommend your download the app right when you find out you are expecting.

Good luck in your journey navigating this pregnancy.

Best wishes!
