Let’s talk about the Mac Sport Push Pull Wagon!  We are going to first go over the description and details of this wagon. If that part is not of interest to you jump down to see my pros and cons and true opinion of the wagon.

I would also like to say we use this wagon for our children, however, it is not designed for that. There are no safety buckles. This wagon is considered a utility wagon designed to haul items like lawn chairs and coolers.

If you decide to transport your children you are doing so at your own risk and not by recommendation by myself or the manufacturers.

Mac Sports Push Pull Wagon Description

This is a utility wagon, not a children’s wagon by design. It does not have any buckles or restraints.  (However, we use it for children)

It can hold up to 300 pounds inside. And comes ready to go with no assembly required.

This wagon is great for places such as ballpark, picnics, shopping, amusement parks, sporting events, simple walks, and adventures like the apple orchard.

Now Let’s Quickly Break Down Some of the Features:

Wheels |  The wheels are a hard plastic. They are not aired-up rubber tires. This means it can get a bit bumpy if you are driving over rough gravel. Our jogger with aired-up tires provides a smoother ride. If you are interested in check out Is the Graco FastAction Fold Jogger Travel System Worth the Investment?

Brakes  |  There are no brakes. Meaning when the wagon is unfolded and hauling items you cannot leave it on a hill.

Typically stroller wheels have a brake you can use. What I have done if needed is put the wheels off the sidewalk or parking area into the grass to help use as a brake and hold the wagon still while loading or unloading.

We first really noticed the lack of brakes while at an amusement park that had lots of hills. While waiting in line to ride rides we had to find a decent place to park the wagon where it wouldn’t roll away.

Pull Handle  | This wagon comes with your typical pull handle. This makes it a traditional wagon. The handle is an adjustable telescope style meaning it can be raised or lowered. The wagon also has a place where you can click the handle in to keep it vertical and locked. You can clip the handle in if you use the push option instead.

Push Bar  |   The push bar is what sets this wagon apart from old school wagons! This is the feature we were after!

The push bar is collapsable. If you want to pull your wagon the push bar can be out of the way and down.  We love the push bar. We specifically wanted a wagon with a push bar!  Pulling a wagon is miserable for your back and shoulders

Another key feature of the push bar is it keeps your wagon in front of you. Like I said before we do use it for your children. This allows them to ride in front of us so we can make sure everyone is sitting safely.  The push bar does have a locking mechanism for when you are not using it or folding down the wagon completely.

Storage Features  |  This wagon has a small mesh storage area on the push bar. This is a great area for storing your phone, keys, wallet, and sunglasses. Look back at the top for the exact measurements of this space. This area is soft and not designed to hold an open cup of any sort. A closed water bottle could be stored here though.

Cup Holders  |  There are 2 mesh cup holders on the pull side of the wagon. One on either side of the handle.

Easy Break Down  |   Folding down the wagon is a breeze.  You simply pull up on a lever in the center of the large wagon basket. When you fold it up you have two handles to hold and there is a clip that keeps it together. Now when you fold it up it will fall over. It cannot stand up!  When we store it in our garage we find a hook to be a great way to store it.

Best Parts of the Mac Sport Push Pull Wagon

The best parts are of course going to depend on what you are looking for. For us, I would say it is the push feature with the small mesh storage area. That is by far what we enjoy most specifically about this wagon. We wanted a wagon to push because it is so much easier on your body, rather than pulling and tugging on your shoulder.

We also love that the wagon folds up small.  If you are traveling or going to an event where you need a lot of gear and your trunk space is limited, this wagon takes up very little room. Especially compared to our jogger stroller.

In general, we like the large space, weight capacity, and that this wagon overall does the job. It is serving its purpose well for our family.

Worst Parts or Negatives of the Wagon

Overall, I would say we are very happy with this wagon but if I could make a few tweaks of course I would!

Let me share some of the negatives or things we like least about the Mac Sport Push Pull Wagon.

One of the biggest bummers about the wagon is the lack of brakes. You cannot park this thing safely on a hill. It will go rolling!

Another negative is when you fold it up it will immediately fall over. There is nothing to hold it up. The wheels will not do so at all.

Because the tires are plastic and not aired up rubber tires the ride is not always the most smooth. You are going to really feel the bumps. If you are using this for children it would matter, if you are only transporting gear and items this would be less of a factor.

A wish list item I would add is a cup holder in the top mess storage area. I wish it was easy to store my drink while pushing the wagon.

And finally, this wagon does not come with any sort of sunshade. As I have said before it is not designed to carry children so they would not need to make it with a sunshade. I simply added the fact here so you can be reminded to think about the lack of feature and decide if you are ok with it. You can always purchase an attachable umbrella to use as a shade.

My Final Thoughts on the Wagon

When we had our second child we had to decide if a double stroller was the route or a wagon. We ended up using a hand-me-down double stroller briefly then decided it was too cumbersome. Once our baby could sit up safely, we decided a wagon was the right choice.

We try to make smart money decisions and decide a wagon would have a longer useful life than investing in a new double stroller.

We figure we can use the wagon to transport two children, one child, or just our gear. We can give the kids breaks to jump in if needed.

They can also use it as they get older and “too big” for a stroller.

I think a wagon would be a great purchase for grandparents. They could use it to carry chairs for sporting events and such, but then also use it for grandchildren when they spend time with them.

I hope this review gives you a full insight into what you are getting with the Mac Sport Push Pull Wagon and helps you decide if it is right for you!
